You should be!

>It really is a beautiful site;

One little second there Seth, I think you are being a bit generous with your
praise. I have a 16mm of memory, a high resolution driver/monitor, and enough
hard drive space to choke a cow, and I did not "DID NOT" like the print or
picture resolutions. First of all I had to shut down some of the other
application to get the screen image to paint. The colors used for the print is
really bad - if they had done any research in this area they would have know
that red is not the prefer color for readability (most people have trouble
reading red print). I do not like pictures that are blurred or done that they
look out of focus. Every thing was messy. Why did they place the logo on each
page, a bad logo to begin with?

There was no continuity, you just wonder around not knowing where to click or
where to go (OK so I am anal about organization). You had to jump from one
page to another just to find out the price on a piece of merchandise. And they
tell you how to join the club, but put the address on another page. Bad
business!!!

Look, I have been around the computer/business world a long time, the type of
work they created on this official page was sloppy. It was a simply a ploy to
get money for the club and merchandise - there was no real information about
the band. I know that SG's is in this for the money (it's their livelihood)
and I understand that, but damn if I like the feeling of being used. Maybe I'm
just getting too cynical in my old age.

> I wish I had the resources to make my page look like that. Now it's only a
matter of time before I remove it altogether.

Please don't drop your page just yet. I will send e:mail to the group (like
they will ever see it), and tell them the same things I have told you. I'm not
saying this just out of loyalty to you. If the official SG page had knock my
socks off, I would have been happy to support it and would have still had stay
with your page. But, for something that is official, it sure was
unprofessional. I don't believe in lowering my standards, just because
something has the blessing of the group (SG), doesn't mean it can be done badly
and I should go with it. If they want my support and money - then they need to
earn it. This has to be done in all areas of the business, not just the music.
They best cut of steak, would not be eaten if served upon a bed of shit. SG
makes the best cut of music - now lets hope their management doesn't start
surrounding them with shit.

I wasn't thinking rationally when I claimed it would only be a matter
of time before I removed my Web site, the unofficial Soundgarden
homepage. Thanks to all of you who have emailed me and made it clear
that the site should remain active. I checked the official site again,
and although I still think it looks really slick, it's completely
devoid of information (lyrics, discogs, articles, side projects, other
Soundgarden links, etc.). And for those of you with text-only
browsers, the new site is useless, since there is not one text
character to be found anywhere in those pages.

Since it doesn't look like the official site is going to have text,
I'll try to extract all information that I think might be interesting
(concert dates, etc.) and present it in such a way that everyone can
read it.

By the way, please send comments and suggestions for the new site to
me, and I'll forward them to my contact there. It doesn't make any
sense for me to be mad at these people; if I can show them what the
fans want, maybe they'll make changes that will benefit all of us.

Okay, I feel better now.

Other Web page news (for my site): the mailing list archive and the
image archive are now kept on Stargate Industries' Web server, which
is FAST, much faster than MIT's server. I may, at some point, move all
of the pages there. I've also mirrored the main page there, which can
be found at http://www.sgi.net/soundgarden/

I think this happened in London. MJ was signing autographs at a record
store. CC went inside to look around. People swarmed around him instead
of MJ, so they kicked him out of the record store. CC then "defaced" the MJ
statue outside of the record store. I'm guessing he pissed on it. This
is the info. somebody gave on a.m.soundgarden, he/she said she heard it
on the radio in London.

Probably has two or three guitars and he has his roadies tune them when he's
playing.

All night thing is in there. I think its the beginning of the part at Rob
Lowe's apartment thingy. You can here Loud Love being played in the background
of a scene at the Gas Works.

Well, there is a person known as 'guitar tech' that takes care of these
things. Kim just hands him his guitar and gets a new one with strings
tuned the way he needs it for the next song... Most bands do that. Even
if the strings are in standard tunings, guitarists prefer certain
guitars for certain songs...

as long as seth has gotten over his anger and has feels no need
to wipe his site, then I don't think that there's much of a problem. if
the authorised site wants to dingle around with 90000 byte images that
don't have a whole heap of content (other than black backgrounds), then
we can safely stay within the confines of seth's masterful homepage, and
never have to worry about encountering the excesses of corporate-scheming.

all seth needs to do is have a look at it now and again and take
new info from it, so those poor souls who have text only terminals can be
in-the-know as well. then we can have the best of both worlds, eh?

He didn't get kicked out, he left to persue the career of family man.
In other words he left the band to give him more time to family

Yes, Seth, I think it's unanimous that we all want your site to stay. It'll
be great if you can take info from the official page and add to yours
though. I can get images, but have a very slow line here which means images
take a bloody long time to download. So the more text the better for me!!
