SG cover - maybe War Pigs, but what about Aero Zeppelin. It's pretty
like "Jesus Christ Pose" for me.
By the way would anybody tell me which of SG videoclips are available
in MTV VIVA etc. I saw only two "Black Hole Sun" and "Jesus Christ
Pose". And I really like the second one.

P.S.
I'm pretty new here, so please forgive me for any errors.

And, Jesus, I get 40-50 mails a day. Is it normal, or you guys do not
have anything to study or something.

Dear all,
Having experienced both the normal and digest mailing versions
of the list I just thought I'd say what I think to you all.
The digest is a good idea but I can see why so few people who get it
actually mail the rest of us, it's cos you feel kind of detatched from
everyone else on it cos you know you are getting it later than everyone
else. Now I admit that getting the list in it's un-digested form takes a bit
of getting in to but is by far the best way to enjoy SOMMS.

Black Sabbath - Fairies Wear Boots
Faith No More - The Last To Know
Led Zeppelin - Four Sticks
The Beatles - Tomorrow never Knows
The Doors - Waiting For The Sun (oops, they did that at Reading95!)
Pink Floyd - Us & Them

Anyone agree??

Subject: Re: Soundgarden Unplugged

Not too long ago, somebody mentioned that SG were going to tape an
MTV unplugged special. While at first this struck me as odd, since
SG does not play to many acoustic songs, I know think it is a good
idea. The band can use this as an opportunity to reinterpret and
reinvent some of their best songs. And, after all, Nirvana wasn't a
band known for their acoustic prowess, and there Unplugged was
definately a highlight. So, as follows, is a list of songs that I
think SG should perform "Unplugged".

a) Like Suicide
b) Times of Trouble
c) Half (with lots of sitars and other exotic instruments, maybe they
can contact the Tea

Party, who can be Soundgarden's version of the Meat
Puppets.)
d) Fell on Black Days(perhaps slowed down to a bluesy pace.)
e) Hands All Over
f) Spoonman( and get Artis himself to play the specified kitchen
utensil.)
g) Searching with my Good Eyes Closed
h) Fourth of July
i) Mind Riot
j) Over the Hills and Far Away (I think SG would totally rock
playing this LEDZEP

                                                            Classic.)

That's what I think would be a cool unplugged set list. What do you
think?

The song you are thinking of (I forget who) is War Pigs. "Generals
gathered in their masses. Just like witches at black masses." Faith No
More have already done an excellent cover of this song, but it would be
interesting to hear what Soundgarden's take on it would be.

Mick,
I don't know how close you are to the area, but there's a great little
store in New Hope, Pennsylvania that has all sorts of photographs that you
can buy of all different bands. The pictures are really good. I bought
one of Chris having a dazed expression, piercing green eyes and hair
sweeping across his shoulders. They are all taken professionally. Just
thought ya might be interested.

Well, if you must know, there is a group called Everything. They're from
Virginia but they tour all over. They come up to New York and Jersey
every so often. I've seen many many of their shows. I met the bassist
when they played at AKA, NYC at the bar after the show. Dave (that's his
name) then invited me to hang out with him the following week at the
Stony Pony, Asbury Park, Jersey. Then I got to briefly meet the
guitarist and lead singer. They're pretty funny. At another concert I
did a roundoff backhandspring in the middle of the show for them and they
gave me a cd. It was all a lot of fun. I highly recommend to everyone
to go see Everything.

It's funny that this question came up, because on Halloween night my
roomate and I threw a fairly large costume bash. My friend's band
Disclaim (killer local band) jammed for over two and a half hours in our
spacious living room. Anyway, for most of the night I was a one man
boogie machine, strutting my moves for the idle onlookers. It took a
little bit of coersion (grabbing passing girls) to finally get the crowd
to loosen up.

Ps Yes I was drunk.

Don't forget to ask them what their three favorite cheeses are. Oh Yeah,
ask them if they would be interested in joining the U2 mailing list
also.

I'm sure some of you have been wondering what the answer to my own
question about SG covers would be. (Or maybe not, but I'm telling you,
anyway.)

     --- Led Zeppelin, "Communication Breakdown"
     --- James Brown, "Night Train"
--- Schoolhouse Rock Crew, "Conjunction Junction" (you know it
            would be the bomb!)
--- Devo, "Whip It" (no problem doing another Devo cover)
--- Steve Taylor, "Jim Morrison's Grave"

I tried to be as diverse as possible. Please be kind. You never know
what SG can crank out of these classics.

Love, peace and Laura, my niece--Chris Dawg

SG should do "GOing Blind" by Kiss. That would be too hilarious.

HERE IS MY VERSION OF THE SET LIST FOR SG UNPLUGGED...

1--->SEASONS
2--->HANDS ALL OVER
3--->OUTSHINED
4--->FELL ON BLACK DAYS
5--->HEAD DOWN
6--->SEARCHING WITH MY GOOD EYE CLOSED
7--->HOLY WATER
8--->LIKE SUICIDE

YOU MAY THINK THAT THIS SUCKS, BUT I CAN VISUALIZE THE BAND SITTING DOWN
IN FRONT OF THAT INTIMATE LITTLE AUDIENCE AND PLAYING THESE SONGS.

ALSO, WHY DONT WE THINK OF SOME SOUNDGARDEN SONGS THAT COULD BE COVERED
BY OTHER BANDS?

Well, be happy because sg have already done that cover. And i have a
copy of it. (It's on Supermainstream) But considering i've never heard
the original, i couldn't tell you much about how similar or different it
is to the original version.

On an unrelated note, are there any other Ugly Kid Joe fans on the list?
And can anyone tell me who sings that song where they say "Jesus crossed
the Rio Grande" ? Me and my brother heard it about six times one day and
haven't heard it since. For some reason it got into my mind a few
minutes ago. (Probably cuz i was listening to UKJ's song "Jesus rode a
harley") Well, any answers graciously appreciated. Also, anyone else
getting a little anxious about seeing the pictures on the member directory?

45. Little Joe
46. Somewhere
47. I Awake (Yeah, it's not as good as most of sg's stuff, but it might
prove better acoustic)
48. Sub Pop Rock City
(Still, no pattern?)
49. Half
50. Holy Water
51. Big Bottom
52. Stolen Prayer
53. Drawing Flies

84. Homicidal Suicidal
85. Into the Void (Stealth)
86. Nowhere But You
87. Head Down
88. Margarittaville (Would be amazingly interesting to see what sg would
do w/ that one, even just acoustically)
89. Touch Me
90. Stray Cat Blues
91. Black (Just so Chris can show up that E. Vedder guy vocally)
92. Stray Cat Blues
93. With Yo' Heart Not Your Hands (a Malfunkshun song, could serve as a
reminder about Andrew Wood)
94. Say Hello To Heaven (I started thinking about Andy Wood)
95. Lump (to ligthen the mood before the big finally)
And finally , the last song in the undoubtedly most amazing acoustic set
ever:
96. Slaves and Bulldozers

So, there it is. My choice for an acoustic set list. Unfortunately, due
to the restraints of time and the fact that me and a few others would be
the only ones willing to set through the whole thing, eMpTyV would never
sponsor such an event. so maybe sg will just play this set as a concert
one day...Nah, no vendor would go for it. Damn capitalism. Well, i'm
sure i forgot a few songs that need to be included. But if sg ever played
this exact set, i would definitely be satisfied. anyone else?

Over the years, I've been flamed for this, but I don't care.
The band i would mostly like to see opening for SG:

   # # # # # # #

Yeah, I love them. As someone said months ago, eventhough I
heard them before most, I don4t consider myself more fan than
somebody, I just like them.

SG was on AOL about 6 or 7 months ago....I had AOL back then. Don't even
bother. Apparently they screen out maybe 5 or 6 semi-decent questions and
answer them back to the whole "crowd". Then they leave..that's it. It's
*really* not worth 2.95 an hour for.

Yes, yes, I am...... Being a Music Freak from way back, I like a lot of
different bands out there. And dear old UKJ is one of them. But I only
have their CD "America's Least Wanted" (love the cover on that album!).
