howdy SOMMSters,

just finished listening (and taping) the 93.1 live broadcast of Soundgarden
here in Chicago. They played from a show at the Hollywood Palladium in
1989 (?). Setlist is :

Come Together
Ugly Truth
Get On The Snake
Mood For Trouble
Hands All Over
Into The Void
Outshined
Gun
Room A Thousand Years Wide
Big Dumb Sex

Now, the show is supposedly in '89, but there is a SOMMS song, and 2 BMF
songs in there? was it early concert testing or is the date just plain
wrong (i like number 2). And Big Dumb Sex has no curses, but they are not
cut...they are simply not there (?). anyways, if anyone knows about this
show...or would like a copy (i'll trade...), lemme know.

I got a copy of the MuchMusic Spotlight (thanks a million Benlover) and I
wonder why in hell does MTV (or who ever) edit and cut out some of the stuff
that was in these videos. I found so many differences. I just don't
understand what's wrong with the videos?!?!? Especially the ending of Pretty
Noose??? What is so wrong with that??? Anyway, on to a question: Which
version of the Outshined video do you guys/gals like best? For me, it's the
one where Chris is wrapped in the plastic stuff (I think someone on the list
said it reminded them of "fly paper"). I just can't get into the one with
the man on the big hamster wheel??? Although the Chris looks yummy in
both!!!...oh...sorry!!! Oh also, has anyone noticed on the Hands All Over
video where Chris is laying posed on this moving piece of equipment (Iyour
guess is as good as mine) and he's singing, doesn't it look like he's trying
SO hard not to laugh?? It does to me!! Well, I've filled your already
cluttered minds with more shit!! Sorry!! Take care and be sweet!!

Stay Cool,

Hey SOMMSters...
List activity seems pretty slow nowdays. I guess everybody is away for
the summer? Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has a copy of
Badmotorfinger on vinyl that they would like to sell, or if anyone knows
where I could pick one up without paying too much...

ALSO, I guess we'll be the first to hear, but I was wondering if anyone
has heard anything about a possible release date for the new HATER
album? And to the SOMMSters who have been to the shows recently, what
is the new material like? Are many of the songs as short as
"Convicted?"

I was on vacation down near NYC, and when I got back to my hotel room, I
heard the last remnants of it..... I think I woke the entire hotel w/ my
sobbing wails...... nothing good ever happens to me..... =P

Is there a such thing as a single release of TY-Cobb...excuse me if it was
talked about before, but someone told me that they heard there was such a
thing.

not to create more dead contraversy, but the seventeen thing should not be
taken so seriously. Take it from someone who is about 16 yrs. old, and how
hate those girly magazines to the death.

I'm also glad to see that Chris is going to do something musically. I'm sure
we all are. I'd just hate to see him(of any of the guys for that manner)
disappear off the face of the musical planet.

Hoping for a new Hater album,

Subject: Touch Me

This is driving me absolutely insane!!! It's about the song "Touch Me". I
remember reading about that song and the only place that could have been is
on Seth's site. I don't remember exactly how it goes and that's why I want
to find it so badly. I know that the woman singing on that song was the
wife of somebody working on that song. Producer? Mixer? I don't remember
that part. She did her vocal part and Chris didn't even know about it
because he wasn't there. He comes in the next day to do his part and was
surprised to hear her singing. Anyway, I pretty much know the story, but I
can't find where I read it at. I've searched Seth's site and I've looked
through all the releases and I can't for life of me find where I read that.
I'm losing sleep over this! This is crazy. Can anybody help me before I
pull all my hair out?

May Soundgarden be with you.

perhaps you saw it in the faq, section 2.17.

"Those of you who have heard the b-side cover of "Touch Me" may be
wondering who that banshee-like voice accompanying Chris actually belongs
to. The scoop is this: during recording sesssions for that particular
song, Kim invited his good friend Bruce Fairweather down to make the day a
little more bareable. While transcribing the lyrics for Chris (who would
come in the next day to add vocals), someone suggested that Fairweather's
wife Stephanie try them out. In short, one take was all that was
necessary; highly impressive considering that Barber had never sung
professionally before that day. The next day Chris came in to complete his
own vocal track and was surprised by the production team with Barber's
decidedly raw delivery. Thus we hear this one time duet between Chris and
Stephanie Barber."

just out of interest (and I could be a little off, as it is second
hand information), matt came first in _modern drummer_ in the category of
best hard rock drummer and third in the same category in _drum!_ magazine.

          Howdy!

Hey everyone! I haven't been on SOMMS for about a month
or two, so I've got a lot of catching up to do. Anyway, I was listenening to
my bootlegged copy of Soundgarden at the Reading Festival (8/27/95) and
noticed a few oddities. First of all, they played a song which I have never
heard before. After checking the lyrics on the page, I noticed that the song
on the tape isn't there. I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out most of
the lyrics (The quality of the tape isn't that good), but it ends with
something like "You'll never smile without me, you'll never talk without me,
you can't see without me, You can't be without me, You're gonna cry without
me, You're gonna die without me." The last line is repeated a bunch of
times, and then the song ends. Also, they finished with some extremely cool
minor sounding instrumental followed by extreme feedback. If you have any
idea what these songs are called, Please write me ASAP. Also, If you want a
copy of the Reading Bootleg, I'm sure we could work something out. THanks a
lot!

Not major SG content, but...went to see U2 last night, and in the middle of
a transition from "Still Havent Found" to "Stand By Me", Bono burst out with
5 or 6 lines of "Thank You Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Agin"...I think that is
the only time I have heard that song covered in concert, besides Soundgarden....

and i headed to Columbus a few hours early, in hopes of checking out some
stores that might have a better Sg collection than the lousy stores
here....*but* i must have dug around 10-15 stores around Ohio State and did
not find *anything* that i havent seen everywhere else!...*sigh*, the
shopaholic was not fulfilled...

Hey there all,

Well I'm pretty excited, tomorrow I'm going to the Folklife Festival at the
Seattle Center. And guess who's playing? Artis the Spoonman. I tell you,
that guy is a hell of a spoonplayer. It's incredible...

Does anyone know when HYPE! will be released on video to the U.S.? I've
been dying to finally own it. I thought it was interesting how it was
released in Australia, before the U.S. Anyway, get back to me if you
know...

okay, guys, i got from halfway into Into the Void on, but i totally
missed a huge portion of the concert broadcast, i was on here
checking my mail and got the message from Michele saying it was on so
i went and popped in the tape and that's all i got. if anyone got the
entire thing on tape, i'd really love a copy of it, i'll send you a
tape and everything. = ) thanks so much.

Deb from PA... i'll send out the tape for Inflatable Soule real soon,
some college stuff has been clogging me down lately.

a side note- I was at my uncle's party today and i had to do a talent
for their funny little thing (a bunch of drunk relatives putting on a
talent show, way funny) so i played BUTOW. the one guy knew what i
was playing and after i finished that, he sang along as i played FoBD.
now i see what people get out of music. being able to look up and
see him singing along because i was playing a song... wow. it almost
made me really want to be a musician. it's totally made me understand
the passion musicians feel though. it was just the best rush in the
world... i really can't explain it. = ) but i digress to the extreme..
..

later,
