Responding to the contradictions in Chris' lyrics. I think it's pretty
obvious. He uses them in abundance, and when he gets on a roll he makes it a
song. In SU and DOTUS he uses them a lot. Just read My Wave, Rhinosaur,
BUTOW, and so on. I feel it is a good technique and/or style to show your
emotions. Does anyone know if there is a certain name for that type of
writing?

Where I came from:
I came from a rap/pop/r&b background. I then heard BHS and the rest is
history.

Where was I? I was reading the Metallica message board and I read this one
guy's vibe list. Under his bad vibes he had something like "Soundgarden
broke up". At first I didn't believe him. I checked out MTV news online and
there my fear was confirmed. I was completely in shock. I didn't cry.
(although I did a couple days later) I didn't have any friends that liked
Soundgarden, and I wanted to talk about it. So I did a little AOL memeber
search and found Ronda (aka SGarden1 and Starglowzz) I IMed her and we
talked about it. Later she told me about this list and I subscribed to it.
I still talk to her a lot.

I have had a lot of Soundgarden dreams, but I can't remember most of them.

Who I would want to meet in order:
1. Chris
2. Matt
3. Kim
4. Ben
But I would love to meet any of them.

Much Love,
Giuliana

Hey, I put up a post for Soundgarden related Quake levels and I've been
informed that you can alter the appearance of your character in
deathmatch. Several know characters are police officer, incredible hulk
and Thing. The good people over at the Megadeth list are working on
creating Megadeth band members and if someone wanted to create
Soundgarden band members we could have a Quake world battle of the bands.
Were also looking into getting Metallica, Slayer, Live and whatever
other bands we can into the fray. We NEED to show the world what SG is
made of. Anybody in? Mail me.

Yes! I went on a good ol' family shopping trip to the Galleria (a mega maill
in St. Louis) and hoping to make the trip worth something I scoured every
music store there. And what did I find but BIMH Part 2 and the BHS EP w/ BTW
and JCP live (wow, lots of abbreviations.) For the first time I heard the
songs Bleed Together and She's a Politician. Sad, I know, but St. Louis
definitely isn't a SG hotbed. Bleed Together has to be one of my top 3 SG
songs, so if you haven't heard it yet you gotta find it on something. I paid
12 bucks for each, and when you're 500 dollars in debt thats a lot :) I know
thats about what the BIMH goes for, but did I get ripped off on the BHS???
If it makes any difference it says that it was made in Germany. Oh yeah,
could somebody tell me where I can find that post Matt made? One more thing,
I NEED MORE PAGE ADDYS FOR THE WEB RING!!!!!! And if you have joined, please
get those banners on your page. Link them to

I was drawn into Soundgarden from a Molson Canadian Rocks Blind Date
commercial. It was advertising who the blind date was in Vancouver last year
- Soundgarden. I had heard a few SG songs on the radio. I really liked FOBD,
but I wasn't too crazy about BHS. I was at the record store one day planning
to buy Load. They didn't have it, so I got DOTU instead. Boy, am I glad I
did. A few months later, I rented a Sony Playstation with Road Rash 3. For
the soundtrack, they had Outshined, Rusty Cage, Superunknown and Kickstand.
I had to get some more Soundgarden. I bought SU, but I still didn't have
Outshined. I WANTED OUTSHINED. I bought BMF. A week later i got UMOK. I've
been hooked ever since.

I have found a song with contridictions and opposites wich is the song Pretty
Noose

I caught the moon today/pick it up and throw it away all right
I got the perfect steel/cleaner love with a dirty feel all right

Also the song Rinosaur does this to I've noticed

Only happy when you hurt
Only deadly in a swamp
Only healthy in the dirt
Only empty in your arms

Only bending when you break
Only feeding when you're cold
Only heeling when you ache
Only feeling when you don't

This is Chris Cornell's publishing rights name (is that the right
description? i can't think of the right one right now). Kim's is "In
One Ear And Out Your Mother." Matt's is "Walpurgis Night Music" which
has a whole story behind it, and I can't tell it because I don't know
all the details, but I believe it has something to do with the night
that all the witches come together? yes? oh, I can't remember.
someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
And Ben's has been a couple of names. It was "Noyes" and now it is
"Stupiddities."

Hands All Over? IT sounds like he just got back from the dentist. He
sounds like he's either gotr something in his mouth, or it's numb or
something. You can especially notice it inthe last part where he's
saying "She's our bride She'll never make it out alive.

So, what's with that?

Subject: sg dream

I had a freakish sg dream a month or two ago. I was eating cereal at the
kitchen table with Ben and he was being an ass for some unknown reason.
So I openend up a can of whipass on him. I got him in a mean headlock
and he went limp. So I let go and tried to get him back on his feet but
he wouldn't budge. I thought he was messing around but then I realized
that I had killed him. I was scared. I had never killed a man before. I
was about to take off but the rest of sg was in the hall. Kim grabbed me
and started yelling at me. I was about to haul off and sock him but Matt
and Chris calmed us down. I explained to them that I didn't mean to kill
Ben. They said they understood and that the same thing had happened to
Jason. They wanted me to be their new bassist, but I didn't want to. I
thought I'd fuck the whole band up or something along those lines. Then
we started playing in my living room. I began to bust some severe Primus
funk and it freaked them out. Then I woke up. That was the third
strangest dream I've ever had.

I found this article about Courtney Love and I
got to this part and my jaw dropped to the floor:

--------------
When fronting Faith No More dissolved for her, Courtney headed back up to
Portland where she met Kat Bjelland, now vocalist and guitarist with Babes
in Toyland. Forming a close friendship, the pair moved into Susan Silver's
house in Seattle (Silver now manages Alice in Chains and Soundgarden, and
is married to Soundgarden's vocalist, Chris Cornell) where Courtney
started seeing a reformed junkie who also lived there. Allegedly, she
introduced him to drugs, so Susan kicked the pair out.
--------------

so when did this happen? i never heard of this incident in my life, and i
somewhat pride myself on the usless info. i know about courtney. i do
recall the cobains accusing susan of being the main source for that nasty
vanity fair article, even sending her a christmas card that
read "to our favorite inside source" (lyrics to "rape me").....hmmmm.....

anyway, apologies to the somms list gods if this wasn't soundgarden
related enough, i'll never do it again, so calm down, i'm not trying to
start a courtney love thread. but it really shocked me and was just
curious if any of you all had heard this before.

record a wav of it for the site... anyone know where to get just an
audio of this show? they sound GREAT the whole way through. CC's
voice is *perfect* and he passes the "she's resolved to
beeeeeeeeeeeeee!" test with flying colors. And what is his deal after
NTMF, just falling right into the crowd like he jumped off a building?
the bouncer on stage lost him in the crowd too, it was pretty
amusing to watch him search for a floating CC in the pitch black. = )
well, anyway, find and get this boot. Besides the annoying light
distorting whoever recorded the video thought it would be cool to add,
and the little messages "hot live concert video" and "soundgarden!
toronto!!!" that flash in yellow at the bottom of the screen every
few songs or so, it's a damn good video. and is CC singing about
boxers before he plays 'dusty'? what was *with* him that night? he
was so funny. and the band seems like a whole. not ben off in benland
and kim off in kimville and chris just there like "okay, i'll sing
right here all night." CC pounces and crawls around during outshined
and ty cobb and never named and NTMF. it's a great site, the entire
band is together as Soundgarden, not Chris cornell, matt cameron, ben
shepherd, and kim thayil. it's a whole. it's amazing...

I would have to go with:

"love's like suicide"
    or
"with eyes of blood and bitter blue, how I feel for you, I feel for you"

There's a few other favorites but they would have to be my 2 best.

Well this is a pretty weird dream, but here goes:

I wake up one morning and look out my window andsee this massively huge
truck next door at my neighbours, sitting in their driveway. So
curious, I go and take a look, and KIm and Matt are inside the cab,
doing nothing. But Chris and Ben are nowhere in sight, so I look under
the truck to find Chris playing around with the mechanics. I then go and
chat to my neighbour about why this truck is there, and she doesn't even
know.

As all of this is going on, the truck backs out and I wave to Kim and he
waves back politely, and the dream ends.

That's pretty weird, but cool.

See ya

Uhh, my favorite SG contradiction is from the ever kick ass Beyond the
Wheel when Chris sings:
Between your house and home
Others include:
no wrong, no right, no guilt admissioin, its all the same

As for my favorite lyrics:
Like Suicide - I wield a ton of rage
Ugly Truth - truth don't look that good on me
Holy water - its the big lies that are more likely to be believed
4th of July - Jesus tries to crack a smile (along with the rest of the
song)
Bleed Together - half afraid, half awake, all insane (or something like
that? It doesn't have a lyrics sheet)
BIMH - I shot my love today, would you cry for me
Bootcamp - no individual line can be taken from this great track

< ) So, what was everyone doing when they heard the news of Soundgarden
 breaking up :(

 2) Where did they hear it from?

 3) What was your first reaction (or action) once you heard the news?

 4) Did anyone do anything "special" or whatever to mourn our great lost?>>

I was on the comp, i think typing up a paper, when my friend called me. wait
hol up, let's just go back a few hours. my ex, whom i was loving, not in
love, and he the same had just informed me that he and his girl were movin in
together ( they are broken up now, and looks like the ball is in my corner).
okay back to the sub........my friend abbie called me this is kinda how the
convo went

ABS: dezh, i juast called to tell you this, becuz i wanted you to hear it
from someone who cares about you than from anyone else.
Dezh ( that's me): what?
ABS: it's bad
(thoughts runnin through dezh's head- sky just got hi by a car ouotside of
abbie's house, though imposs. since he lives outta state. ashley, her sis,
got hit by a car. i dunno lotz o' bad things went thru her head)
Dezh: what is it?
ABS:Soundgarden broke up.
Dezh: no way, where did you hear that (refusin to believe it)
ABS: kroc (our local station here in nyc)but they always get shit wrong.
Dezh: well they are wrong, they would never.
ABS: well i just wanted to let you know. i'll call back to make sure it's
true.

that night i went to sleep listening to what i call the lullabye album, even
though it's not, superunknown. my thoughts hopin that it was all a lie
carried me off to dreamland. god knows what i dreamt that night. i woke up to
howie stern and my boys. i listened to see if they would say anything about
it. robin gave her news and they began talkin about it. i didn't wanna go to
my internship. i wanted to stay there and sulk all day. the first move i made
that morning was to get up and tape the damn thing. kim is on it talking
about how beautiful the music is. i should ahve it memeorized seein as though
i listen to it everyday, but i don't. i turned on mtv to see if they had
anyhting worth taping, and there was the bitch! serena altschul! breaking the
news to all the sleepy eyed fans of soundgarden that their band had broken
up. she sat there with a smile on her face, i would think that she would be a
lil more compasionate to the fact that one of the most talented bands in
history broke up. i taped it. i went to my internship. no one cared becuz
they were old and it was all noise anyway. later on i went to my old school
to see my friends, they all hugged me and joked with me.i talked to abbie and
ashley and they told me all was well becuz abs fav band broke up and they're
back together, who is that, motlet crue. sorry to all the crue out there, but
they suck now. ash said that jane's broke up and porno came out. well that's
geat but dave is screwing up every band in history. i just don't want sg to
be one of those bands. that night i went home and cried, it was the worse
time of my life, my boy led me on, my boys ain't leadin shit no more. sg was
the only thing that made me happy, and now they're gone. fuk that i still
gotz my music! i was even worse then the time when i had backstage passes to
one of the shows that sg played in nyc, adn they cancelled it cuz chris was
sick, and then my boy broke up with me two days later. whatever. for a period
of 4 weeks i didn't listen to anyhting but sg, no temple of the dog, no solo
shit, no nothin. but i got over that. i'm glad that i didn't do anything
drastic, cuz i would have regreted it, but i'm also glad that my friends were
there for me. of course there were some friends that thought i committed
suicide and shit, after the show got cancelled here they prayed for me in
class or some shit like that, i'm sorry, but we don't need to go that far.
but everyone in my school was sympathetic, there are close to 5,500 kids at
my old school and most of them are hoodies. at my acting class i had to bring
in a song and turn it into a monologue, i had so conveniently chosen jesus
christ pose before they broke up, and so when i had to do it i cried
afterwards. my director was like, that was beautiful! who does that song?i
said through sobs my boys. this asshole in my class said oh soundgarden they
brokeup! htey sucked anyway! well did he get a good ass whoopun! anyway.
sorry this shit was so long, adn sorry that i send shit late, i just joined
and have to look thru all this mail and never get a chance to do it. oh
well............

i have too many sg dreams yo. it's kinda sick. i can give you all lil
fragments. if i have one recently that i can remember then i shall send it
out 10-4 and all that jazz.

1. i was in a pizza palor w/ my boys and dey wuz all bein dicks but as they
left. chris hugged me real hard and gave me that googly eye look and kim
kissed my hand and laughed. and hiro was there, not ben. and matt just walked
out. there was a lot more to this dream, but my mind can easilt lose things.

2. ok this one was in my old school, kinda like a dream i was readin about
before. and i was backstage in my auditorium and i left the stage. everyone
poured in to see a concert. i was like who's playin? everyone was like
soundgarden, the audience consisted of hoodies and teeny weeny boppers. i was
like soundgarden, das my favorite band. everyone was like we know. i think
someone told me the concert was for me. they played like 3 songs. i forget
them, but one is on the tip o' my tongue. the songs were in dere becuz i
listen to dese songs while i was a sleepin. well anyway the concert ended,
and everyone was like, that suked, hey should have played more (this all
could have come from a free concert that porno for pyros played, where the
exact same shit happened) and my response was well atleast we got to see
them, and they kicked ass! (my same reaction at porno peeps) and den my mom
came in and was all like we have to go. i said hol up momz i left somehtin
back stage. i went to get whatever it was and i saw chris in the dressing
room. i went up to him and started blabbing to him about how awesome they
were and that he should disregard anything i said cuz i''m a dumb freak, and
he laughed. said something along the lines of i should come hang out with
them for drinks and whathaveyou and then he gave me an autographed picture.
and i left. then i went back to go ask him something and he was gone, but i
saw kim walk by and flash me a smile. then this whole thing involving cutting
school (not my school, dunno why i was paranoid) and peeps from junior high
happened. whatever, my brain hurtz from all the thinkin going on. i'll have
to get back to ya on this one.

well if i had to choose an order, i wouldn't can't i just chill with all of
them at a bar or something?
guess not.

one) Chris, okay, i got over my wanting to have sex with him and all that
jazz, so das not why. i just think he's a really cool guy with a beautiful
mind and a lovely voice and a musical talent. i'd like to meet the dude that
can produce such a sound. he's da man, das all.

two) kim, cuz dat boy cracks me ups! well at least from the interviews that i
have read. i just think that me and kim would have a great time just being
totally unrestricted (not like that all you naughty people), we'd be like lil
kids on christmas i believe. i'd also like to chill wit da man dat has
created all those awesome guitar solos, i happen to agree w/ all the peeps
that say he wrote them. whatever kim is just the man!

three) matt cuz he's da bomb. he's a good song writer and he's talented, and
he seems like the only one that would either be nice to me or actually pay
attention to me. although i have my ways of getting attention. whatever matt
rules.

four) ben, that was obvious. i'm kinda scared of his one, but ya know what
fuk it! i can be just as mean! i think ben can be a chill laid back fellow,
well at least that's how i picture him in my mind. i always picture me adn
him in a coffee shop just chillin and makin fun of the passers by.

well i would have put hiro in for third, but i don't know if that's allowed.
are there rules to this game? well i best notz fuk around with these here
rulez anyways.

like soundgarden, das my favorite band. everyone was like we know. i think
someone told me the concert was for me. they played like 3 songs. i forget
them, but one is on the tip o' my tongue. the songs were in dere becuz i
listen to dese songs while i was a sleepin. well anyway the concert ended,
and everyone was like, that suked, hey should have played more (this all
could have come from a free concert that porno for pyros played, where the
exact same shit happened) and my response was well atleast we got to see
them, and they kicked ass!

ABS: well i just wanted to let you know. i'll call back to make sure it's
true.

that night i went to sleep listening to what i call the lullabye album, even
though it's not, superunknown. my thoughts hopin that it was all a lie
carried me off to dreamland. god knows what i dreamt that night. i woke up to
howie stern and my boys. i listened to see if they would say anything about
it. robin gave her news and they began talkin about it. i didn't wanna go to
my internship. i wanted to stay there and sulk all day. the first move i made
that morning was to get up and tape the damn thing. kim is on it talking
about how beautiful the music is. i should ahve it memeorized seein as though
i listen to it everyday, but i don't. i turned on mtv to see if they had
anyhting worth taping, and there was the bitch! serena altschul! breaking the
news to all the sleepy eyed fans of soundgarden that their band had broken
up. she sat there with a smile on her face, i would think that she would be a
lil more compasionate to the fact that one of the most talented bands in
history broke up. i taped it. i went to my internship. no one cared becuz
they were old and it was all noise anyway. later on i went to my old school
to see my friends, they all hugged me and joked with me.i talked to abbie and
ashley and they told me all was well becuz abs fav band broke up and they're
back together, who is that, motlet crue. sorry to all the crue out there, but
they suck now. ash said that jane's broke up and porno came out. well that's
geat but dave is screwing up every band in history. i just don't want sg to
be one of those bands. that night i went home and cried, it was the worse
time of my life, my boy led me on, my boys ain't leadin shit no more. sg was
the only thing that made me happy, and now they're gone. fuk that i still
gotz my music! i was even worse then the time when i had backstage passes to
one of the shows that sg played in nyc, adn they cancelled it cuz chris was
sick, and then my boy broke up with me two days later. whatever. for a period
of 4 weeks i didn't listen to anyhting but sg, no temple of the dog, no solo
shit, no nothin. but i got over that. i'm glad that i didn't do anything
drastic, cuz i would have regreted it, but i'm also glad that my friends were
there for me. of course there were some friends that thought i committed
suicide and shit, after the show got cancelled here they prayed for me in
class or some shit like that, i'm sorry, but we don't need to go that far.
but everyone in my school was sympathetic, there are close to 5,500 kids at
my old school and most of them are hoodies. at my acting class i had to bring
in a song and turn it into a monologue, i had so conveniently chosen jesus
christ pose before they broke up, and so when i had to do it i cried
afterwards. my director was like, that was beautiful! who does that song?i
said through sobs my boys. this asshole in my class said oh soundgarden they
brokeup! htey sucked anyway! well did he get a good ass whoopun! anyway.
sorry this shit was so long, adn sorry that i send shit late, i just joined
and have to look thru all this mail and never get a chance to do it. oh
well............

 responding to kelly,
i guess the milk thing would be a good idea. i think kim's would ber i prefer
orange juice, or something like that.
 responding to kelly part two:
well my room is not wall to wall, but it's dooin good. i have a bunch of pics
of chris on my wall, door rather. two of the same pic. one is off center and
the contrast is too dark, cuz it looks cool dat way, and the other is what my
friend and i like to call "fairy princess chris cornell" i was bored at my
internship, we had access to the copying machine and some glitter stars in
the drawer. i was gonna give him a gold aura, but my attention span was not
that long. my friend put the stars in his hair and i put two blue ones in his
eyes. from there he became a fairy princess. we found it quite amusing, but
it looks really phat. anyway, i have a poster from a music magazine, that
that same friend gave to me. it's an old poster/picture with hiro in it. yay!
most of my pictures though have been preserved in a plastic box, so i can
keep em all together, and make phototcopies of the ones i wanna put up. my
closet and my room door are filled with misc. people in a nice collage sort
of fashion, also with flyers to raves out here in nyc, only the nice flyers
though. phat post cards, good art, and of course my boys soundgarden. i aslo
have a sg flat from dotus that i simply must put up. although dotus isn't my
fav album, it's a threeway tie between bmf, ultramega ok, and screaming life
fopp. i made collages to put all over the room, but not too many, we don't
want it to look cluttered here. in between my two doors are pics of a really
phat N (for my name) and james dean and lucy ball, my heros, besides my boys.
over my bed is a phat albert poster all colorful and shit matching my blue
room, my room is a very colorful place. there's too much shit in there
actually, i don't think i could type everything down. whatever, i look later
and let y'all know. i have no money so the sg pics and posters that i get are
from really nice friends that don't mind giving me shit from a long time ago,
but as soon as Nadezhda getz a job, she is going to town and havin a ball! if
anyone lives in the nyc area and knows of any good record as in vinyl shops
(besides second coming) and poster places, please lemme know. if you wanna
know the excact pisc i have lemme know, too.

hello sommsters.

um, i just want to say something about excessive multiple posting
disease... it's affected a few Sommsters lately and i just wanted to
ask that those of you who have it (including myself occassionally) to
try to surpress it as much as possible. remember, you can write to
the person privately as well, if you are replying to a pervious post.
thanks!
