Okay, whenever I listen to Jeff Buckley's Dream
Brother, I always think it sounds like Matt drumming.
Our Matt that is. You know, Matt Cameron. In fact,
the whole instrumental break sounds like Jeff's band
is channelling Soundgarden. Does anyone else notice
this or am I just going nuts again?

Subject: Metal Hammer Article

That was a great article wasn't it? Am I the only one
who's noticed quite a big change in the way Chris
presents himself now, even from the later Soundgarden
days. I'm not sure how to put it, but he seems more,
um, mainstream. I find it ironic how he goes through
the motions of complaining about how he dislikes
publicity so much, in the middle of a huge bloody
publicity campaign! I've gotta say I don't really
like it, but of course, you should never try and judge
someone by the way they come across in a magazine
interview.

One thing I picked up on was this:

"I m not gonna have produced and composed and
arranged and played by Chris - I don t think that
sounds good and I m not good enough to play all those
instruments."

I've gotta ask why doesn't he think that sounds good?
I think it sounds good. Lot's of other artists are
quite comfortable to go with that. And he's
definetely more than capable of going it completely
alone. It seems like he's using Natasha and Alain as
some sort of safety net. It was supposed to be a solo
album, now it's a collaboration with Eleven. The net
seems to be working like a charm as well, the people
on this list that don't like certain aspects of the
album are heaping blame on Eleven in no uncertain
terms. Cynical?

Anyays, good to finally read a postive review in the
actual press. And who'd have thought it'd come from a
metal publication.

On the much debated hair front. I think the Can't
Change Me video is the final straw. I miss the spikey
hair. This floppy do just won't, um, DO. He looks
like a sap! I'm still picturing spikey Chris when I
listen to Euphoria Morning.

Another bootleg like Stolen Prayers that had those songs. Does that mean
that Chris Cornell was somehow affiliated with the Poncier bootleg? Or is
he just acknowledging it...who knows.

okay, i have a long running theory.. and once again i've been proven right

when rockers are young, they are cool and rockin but self destructive
b/c that is what rockin is.. being uncomfortable w/ something and making
noise
as they get older.. they don't need to rock as much.. b/c they discover some
peace
and understanding about their reality.. look at metallica.. they don't rock
as much now.. but they are truly content w/ themselves and their music.. so
that is to be seen as something that enhances their music.. not this 'they
sold out' crap.. same w/ pearl jam.. they used to rock hard.. but they were
always having internal problems.. b/c that is what rocking is.. but now they
are ahead and advanced.. and while yeild wasn't the most impressive visceral
album of theirs.. i get a sense of proudness for them when i hear it.. b/c i
know they have finally reached what they want..

now granted chris always speaks highly of soundgarden.. but he's rocked
before.. it's time for him to evolve and explore.. so without even hearing
it, i know euphoria morning will be good.. just b/c i know he is a good
musician and is king midas when it comes to stuff like that

why did i post this? oh the chrisrobinson/bellbottoms thing.. yeah he does

Subject: mainstream doooooos

It's fun to be back on the list and feel the love from my SOMMY friends!

So Chris is going mainstream huh? I have to disagree with you on that one.
His publicity is not comparable as say N SYNC. I mean he's doing his whole
internet thing. Not going on the mickey mouse club or anything. It's very low
key. He's on the covers, of all magazines to pick, RAYGUN. It looks as though
he's just trying to be lowkey as possible, but still trying to let people,
other than us fucking freaky sommsters that seem to know everything about
that fucking crazy band even when they pee and what kinda beer Kim drinks,
what was I saying? Oh yeah, he's just trying to reel in some more fans. If
yer a musician and you have something to say, what good is it to make
something and not have anyone listen to it. I think the reason for the Behind
the Video thing or whatever it is, is for his fans. Duh! But he really wanted
to do it for us rather than publicity unlike Britney
Someoneputsspearthruherquick. I mean he's playing Town Hall out here in NYC.
He could have picked a venue that has more pull, but he's going for something
small and not really known for it's "rock" concerts. I think he's trying to
do some sort of European indie thing, kinda like he's teamed up with
Porcupine Tree or Kula Shaker or something. His already known fame won't let
him have that though, so it seems as though he's going mainstream. He's
trying to start a clean slate. Too bad Rocksha and Clambake are there, and he
can't do a complete fresh new naked and raw Chris (yummy). If anything to me
he seems mellower, happier, kinda like... he's joined the Clocksha WACO Cult
and gots brainwashed! That's what happens when you move to North Cali. Naw
but he does seems mellower and happier. Maybe this is all good for him.
Whatever makes you happy dood.
Besides Chris can't go mainstream. He'd have to get in a time machine and go
back to 1980-1984, switch places with his former self in order to get famous.
Haven't you guys been paying attention. The old man has to work twice as hard
to get anyone to notice him. And prance around half naked (yummy) with fake
boobs (no!). It's all good Chris. I understand dood. Keep doin your thing.
You gotta pay your bills. Multi-millionaires can be so misunderstood at
times. Shame on you!

Okay, about this new dooooo of his. I kinda like it, but it's really
confusing, cuz didn't he have curly hair? I'm ascared. I've gotten reviews of
his look. "He looks like the devil." "He looks like Dave Navarro (forgive me
father for repeating the words of a heretic!)." I dunno. I think he looks
great. In RAYGUN he looks like he just got out of the shower, didn't use
Johnson's Baby Conditioner and his mommy forgot to comb out his tangles. How
cute!!! What's with the cute thing here? I do miss his spikey hedgehog hair
though. The farther and farther you go back with dood's hair, the more I miss
it. 1994... yummy. 1987... drool.

i'm just gonna go back to work and listen to my Chris Conrell jammy joint!

When do you ever see much music on MTV any more. They really need to
drop the M in the MTV.. I think (and not to hard today since it is a
holiday here in the states) we may see more of Chris on VH1. I'm now at
that point where I find myself mentally humming "Mission" and "When I'm
Down". This CD is going to be the type where the more you play it the
more you like it.

Subject: Video reminder and short review of EM

Hey everyone, just a reminder! Tonight is the night! Video premiere! Be
sure to set those VCR's! From what I've seen on real player format, this
video looks like it's gonna be a good one! Anyway, here's my short review of
Euphoria Morning (track by track):

1) Can't Change Me - Good song (very poppy, but not cheesy); if you can
identify with the meaning behind it the song becomes so much more. 4 1/2 out
of 5
2) Flutter Girl - A personal favorite of mine; quite different from the demo
version, but definitely still a winner. (I could do without the "scweww"
sound though ;) 5
3) Preaching The End Of The World - A vocally impressive song! Chris never
ceases to amaze me with what the capabilities of his voice can accomplish.
I'd describe this one as darkly angelic with a poppy flavor to it. 5
4) Follow My Way - Very reminiscent of Soundgarden. Kick ass! 'nuff said. 5
5) When I'm Down - My personal favorite as of now; this one just gives me the
chills. Fans of Temple of The Dog will adore this one!! Extremely
impressive and its got Chris' name written all over it! 5+
6) Mission - Somewhat disappointing, but not a terrible song. 3
7) Wave Goodbye - To be honest, on first listen I couldn't connect myself to
the song. I was desperately wanting another Say Hello To Heaven and this
song is anything, but that. However, after a few listens I came to realize
that the meaning of Wave Goodbye is much more about the process of moving on,
rather than dwelling on the past and suffice to state, I have come to like it
a lot. 5
8) Moonchild - A beautiful song with a catchy chorus. 5
9) Sweet Euphoria - A good piece, but it could have been longer. 41/2
10) Disappearing One - Matt Cameron's influence on this one is very obvious.
A very delicate, yet incredibly moving track. 5
11) Pillow Of Your Bones - Another personal favorite of mine. Like Follow My
Way, this track is sure to remind many of Soundgarden. Chris' use of his
falsetto in this one is amazing. Powerful!!! 5+
12) Steel Rain - Very hypnotic and darkly glorious. This song just draws you
in and overcomes you instantly. 500++++....umm I like this one....;)
Well, that's my personal review of U4ia Morning. Go get the album!!! It's
well worth it and be sure to give it a chance!

Subject: Chris and Sarah Michelle Gellar?

Hey Chad, as far as I know Chris has always had dark brown or black hair
depending on how you look at it. I pretty much doubt that he's recently dyed
his hair jet black; rather I would think that over time his hair has just
gotten darker which is really common with a lot of people. In youth, some
have really blonde or light brown hair, but as years go by, hair tends to
darken. Same with eye color in many cases. Still, I wouldn't be able to
tell you if he dyes his hair or not, cause I don't know the guy personally.
The only reason I would see for him to do that is if he
were...going...grey...muuuhhhaahaahaaaaa! Oh and didn't you know that Sarah
Michelle Gellar is in reality Chris Cornell's illegitimate daughter? LOL

"grunge" is a whole load of shit really isn't it. i mean, it's just a word.
let me ask; did anyone hear the word "grunge" before the seattle scene became
big? it's just a pigeon-holing phrase invented (probably) by geffen or some
journalist. just like "heavy metal". you can't really put nirvana, Sg, Pj
etc... into the same category. "heavy metal" was used to describe hendrix's
music....now, what's the similarity between jimi's music, and "heavy metal"
of today? hendrix didn't sound like max cavalera.

as for the "are soundgarden grunge" debate, how many "grunge" bands played in
5/4 time? sg are, in my view, pretty much unique (especially dotu). it's just
timeless music.

i used to think of it that way too(when i was totally obsessed with time
signatures[i'm so pretentious]), but a band can be part of a category even if
they are doing things differently. even if the category is just for the ease
of saying or marketing. i don't get pissed about grunge, i call it grunge
cuz people identifiy with it when i say it. they know i mean early 90s
seattle rock. hate to be a conformist, but come on...

I tried to stay out of the great hair debate but I can't!!! Chris appears
to have had curly hair in the early days which I do believe was natural. I
also have curly hair and as you get older and your hair changes it get
weirder. Sometimes the natural curl goes out and you are left with an odd
mixture of waves and straight. I think the "wet" look we are seeing is
Chris straightening out those waves. He is doing the gel thing or whatever
kind of product is out there. I don't want to see him in the same hair
style he wore 10 years ago. I think it's a sign of maturity and confidence
that he no longer hides behind the hair and is comfortable enough in his
own skin to go for different looks. I see nothing wrong with that! Are any
of you walking around with the same "do" you had 10 years ago....I hope
not! Give Chris a break. He's just a human being who is trying to do his
"job" and live his life. It just happens to be in the public eye because
he needs to "promote" his work. I surely would hate to have someone taking
my picture or have an audience of 5,000 people when I go to work tonight
and judge not only my skills but also my appearance!!! toni

Hey aren't they alternative? That's what (in the words of O6z6z6y) eMpTyV

It's the great hair debate. Poor guy. Havin an entire list dicuss whether or

Someone mentioned Fanatic... I dunno. I really would not like to meet him in

I were to take him on that show (if he even agreed to it) as soon as he

Hell let's go to a bar! Or play some video games! Drink and play video games!
Hell who cares, let's just go!" Then again I'd prolly be so nervous I'd pee
