Soundgarden was gymongous! (like those fuckin' burritos) Cornell's solo on "Black Hole Sun" was a religious experience, and when they played "Waiting for the Sun," I nearly wet my pants. They were by far the best act of the day and truly made the long drive and intense heat worth putting up with. Body surfing to "Boot Camp" was a trip. I'm still in shock from the whole thing. 4 PHATT STARS!!!!

This show further instilled my belief, like there was any doubt, that Soundgarden is definitely one of the best bands to grace any stage anywhere. I saw them last year at the Reading Festival in England and this time around in Pecatonica they were just as stunning. I only wish they would have played one of two songs, either Jesus Christ Pose or Room A Thousand Years Wide. I can wait until they come back for an indoor show, hopefully this fall or winter. They could have headlined and done just as good, if not better, than Metallica. Metallica was very impressive, but at some points there was to much repeatative chanting that made no sense. Chrissy and the boys are the best! Hands down! See ya next time around. The Kid

Soundgarden's set at Lollapalooza in Pecatonica ,Illinois was opened by the band tearing into Spoonman, much to the crowd's delight.It seemed that the crowd by the main stage packed together closer as the afternoon wore on and i had the feeling that I was about to pay quite a price for seeing my favorite band. Sure enough, as soon as SG started playing, the crowd began to sway back and forth knocking over whomever happened to be caught off gaurd.Inevitably , the crowdsurfing began and alternateens hoping to impress their friends were jumping on shoulders and riding the giant mass of "fans" What really upset me was that it got to the point where I was getting kicked in the head and ribs so much I started looking over my shoulder and dodging idiots more than I was watching my idols on stage.Besides that unfortunate aspect of the show, Soundgarden ROCKED!!!!!!!! The band was in top form and were obviously overjoyed at the prospect of playing with Metallica , You Am I , Ramones and Screaming Trees. About halfway through the set, I escaped with a couple friends to seek refuge from the mob and watch SG in a not so packed area. The set culled mostly material from the new album and SuperUnknown and also featured some tracks from Badmotorfinger. A highlight of the set was Soundgarden's rendition of the Door's "Waiting for the sun" which was absolutely amazing( I am a fan of the Doors but I hope I will not offend other Doors fans when I say Soundgarden played the song..... better than the Doors!!)Unfortunately Soundgarden couldn't play forever ( Damn!) and didn't have time to play old favorites such as "Little Joe", "Flower, or "Gun". It was also good to see that the mutual respect Metallica and SG have for each other has brought more fans into the fold for both bands and I personally enjoyed seeing Metallica very much , just as I saw many a Metallica fan roar their approval for Soundgarden.Sorry if my account of the show was a little longwinded( by the way email me if you want to talk about any of the bands present at Lolla 96).I have one last request for people at the shows: Please do not feel compelled to act like an idiot and hurt people to show you like a band.Moshing is trendy and stupid....just chill out or dance!And I have one request for Soundgarden: PLEEEAAAASSSSSE, please, please, please play HIV BABY or Birth Ritual or Flower when I see you guys for the third time!Peace. i just got back fron the show it kicked ass they opened up with the theme song from WHAT'S HAPPENING then they went into a 3-hour jam of Ty Cobb in which chris just kept screaming Hard Headed F#*k You All long after the song was over one by one the other band membaers [very annoyed at athis point w Chris] left the stage then Chris went nuts beat up a defenseless old lady who was in the crowd [as to what the old lady was doing at Lallapalosa is beyond me ] then there was lots of screaning and yelling and some security guys came took Chris away then Joey Lawrence showed up so i got the hell out of there ......and that is my review of the show by BURNY

Rock and Roll at it's finest. Chris was possesed by the sun that burning day in June. They should have allowed Garden to play for much longer. Cornell seemed to become enraged during "Ty Cobb" I wish I could have had that burst of energy. Though I wish they could have licked out tunes like "Gun", or "Mind Riot", I was very inspired besides being perspired. I look forward to a late fall tour where the stage will be all theirs.

What can I say? After seeing Soungarden in Pecatonica I can die a happy man. Chris' solo performance of Black Hole Sun just kicked ass, and who would have thought that they'd break into a Doors song? I was really surprised that they played so many songs from Down on the Upside. My only dissapointment was that they didn't play the most kick ass song of all time, My Wave, but it really wasn't too big of a downer because just kicked so much ass. I waited in line for four hours to get a good seat, and I was right up front when they came on, and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Three thumbs up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
