FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SOUNDGARDEN CONTEST
Win Round-Trip PlaneFare, Lodging, and Tickets to Special Seattle Show
Soundgarden announced today that they will be giving a special
performance at the historic Showbox Theater in Seattle this Thursday,
June 20th, 1996, before leaving on tour with Lollapalooza. In
appreciation to their loyal, hometown fans, Soundgarden has chosen a
smaller venue for this show to provide a close performance experience
for the audience. Opening the show will be Loosegroove recording
artists, Devilhead. All profits from the show will be donated to
local causes including JAMPAC/WMIC, AIDS Research and Care Fund for
Pediatric AIDS, and Share Wheel.
In conjunction with this event, A&M is sponsoring an on-line contest,
exclusively on iMusic, offering Soundgarden fans a chance to win
round-trip plane fare from anywhere in the continental U.S., lodging,
and tickets for the June 20th show in Seattle. Contestants will vote
to determine the listeners' choice of the best song from the new
Soundgarden release, Down On The Upside. Results of this voting will
be posted on the Soundgarden Website on iMusic. The contest winner
will be chosen based on a random drawing, and is open to those over
age 21. The deadline for entering the contest is midnight on Tuesday,
June 18th. The winner will be chosen and notified on Wednesday, June
19th and will fly out to Seattle the next day.
To enter the contest and vote for the best song on the album, on-line
