Home Alive was released by Epic Records in February 1996 as a double CD benefit album containing music and spoken-word performances. All proceeds from sales of the compilation go to a Seattle-based women's self-defense collective called Home Alive. The album release was inspired by the murder of Gits lead singer Mia Zapata.
