Also known as So Fucking What, Jefery Levy's 1994 film S.F.W. featured Stephen Dorff and Reese Witherspoon. The plot is as follows: Cliff Spab turns from Burger Boy employee into media superstar after being held hostage for 36 days inside a convenience store. The terrorists demanded that their broadcasts be televised live and uncut or the hostages would be killed, and Spab captured the worldwide audiences attention with his wit, humor, and famous slogan "So fucking what?" After shooting his way to freedom, Cliff finds himself not wanting to be where everybody knows his name, and instead tries to avoid the media and find Wendy, a fellow hostage who captured his heart. Soundgarden appears on the soundtrack to the film (if they didn't, would you be reading this on a Soundgarden site?). The other Soundgarden-related item on the soundtrack is the acoustic version of "Like Suicide," written and performed by Chris Cornell, recorded in February 1994. The regular version of the song appears on Soundgarden's 1994 album Superunknown. This is only the second publicly available recording of Cornell performing solo; the first was the Singles soundtrack, to which he contributed "Seasons." The "Like Suicide" story goes something like this: it was written about a bird that flew into the window at Chris Cornell's house. He heard the sound, and expecting a burglar, instead found the small creature suffering. To end its pain, he crushed its skull with a brick.
